What makes a Pink Fairy Armadillo pink?  

Their scaly shell is so thin that blood vessels show through and scientists believe that it helps the organism regulate its body temperature.  Exposing more blood near the surface helps it cool down, while drawing blood into the core can help it retain heat.  Pink fairy armadillos are rarely seen due to their subterranean lifestyle. It has the perfect body for burrowing in the ground.  These organisms dig with their large claws through soil and use their flattened posterior to compress the soil behind them.  Pink Fairy Armadillos may also be one of the cutest animals on the planet (besides your baby, of course!)
